I gotta say, I like the re-balancing of a lot of the characters. Also, for the record (and those keeping track at home!), the A+B+G+K button for the 360 is the Left Bumper. OK, I'm totally giving that a try when I get home tonight. :)ĮDIT: Hey look! I defeated the profanity filter! The easiest way to see them all is to have someone hold the block button down on a second controller in Versus mode and just go on them until they Soul Crush. Each character has a CF that is unique to them (and some of them are pretty freakin' badass) but there's only one CF per character. Unlike Mortal Kombat Fatalities, Critical Finishes are identical for every character (A+B+G+K) and it does not matter how close or far away you are from your opponent. This will execute the Critical Finish, which is a one-shot kill no matter how much life the target has. This is called a "Soul Crush." When your opponent is Soul Crushed, hit A+B+G+K simultaneously (on the PS3, there's a button for it - L1). If you keep pounding away at their guard at this point (or Impact one of their attacks), you'll see what looks like red glass shattering around them and they'll stagger back for a second or two. Eventually, if you keep hammering them with strong attacks, it will start flashing red. As your opponent defends against attacks, their Soul Gauge will deplete. Nameless wrote: Hey, does anyone know how to deliver the Critical Finishes? I've not managed to do one yet.ĬFs are easy, but it requires certain circumstances to occur. Instead, appreciate the fact that they improved the custom character creation, added the ability to destroy armor, enlarged Ivy's breasts (yes, even MORE), and even put in finishing moves!!!! You shouldn't bemoan its abysmal storylines, its redundant plot elements, or it's addition of completely irrelevant characters. So yeah, it's not like it's a roleplaying game. I can't wait to learn how to pull off all that crazy cheese.) The Apprentice is way more difficult than the other characters when the CPU is controlling him. I've been playing the hell out of it since I got it. Adding Darth Vader and other Star Wars characters to the mix just makes it even more absurdly enjoyable. And in that regard, SC4 does not disappoint in the slightest. Hitting stuff with large objects and beating the crap out of people. Therefore, I appreciate it for the sheer ass-kicking-ness of it all. It's just the same thing over and over and over again. It hasn't really had much going for it in terms of plotline since the second one. You don't play Soul Calibur for the story, or the reverence. When IV was announced, I pre-ordered it immediately, paid for the thing in full in advance, and even got the "Premium Edition" that comes in a nifty little tin, has some extra goodies, and costs $15 more. To be perfectly honest, I'm a huge fan of the Soul Calibur series.
